I did stroll into the upstairs game room a couple days ago and a housemate had CNN on the TV up there. The anchors in the US were trying to talk to Dr. Sanjay Gupta and couldn’t get him to respond to them. He had pretty much taken off his mike/dropped his mike and was rendering medical treatment to survivors in a makeshift medical clinic made of what appeared to be tenting or tarps and dirty blankets on the ground. The crew on the ground there told the US anchors that there had been more doctors there, but there was a security issue developing so they all left. Dr. Gupta refused to leave and was the only one there treating all of those patients. I suddenly developed a very strong liking for the man. Compassion seems to be a rare thing these days, only peeking out when something horrible happens. However, I got the impression that Dr. Gupta is one of those people who value compassion greatly and then actually acts on it all the time, not just during a disaster/crisis situation. That right there made me happy (as much as one can be when viewing such horrors anyway).

Since cruise ships are also docking in Haiti again, I know they are bringing a lot of medical supplies and food with them as well. Well, I HEARD/read they were at least. I think it’s true because it just makes sense. That and of course I hope with all my tiny, dark little heart that it IS true. MissDementia
