I have been receiving diabetics supplies from liberty medical for a few years now.I get a three month supply which cost me $36 dollars which medicare does not cover always with a zero balance.recently i closed my account to be able to save a few dollars.well a month later i get a bill for over $200 dollars. After calling and inquiring about it i was told it was a bill from 2007 which medicare did not cover. If i did not close the account i would have never known about a past due bill.Is it fair for liberty medical to charge me with a bill of 2 years or more i was never told about.I’m in louisiana is there any law that can protect me from that sort of practice.

I am wanting to start a durable medical equipment (DME) supply and rental business and become a provider through Medicare and Medicaid. I plan to set up a LLC. What steps should I take to get this type of business started? Also about what will it cost to start a DME business?

Can you give me an estimate of how much my bill would be on medicare?

my social worker wants me to quit my medicare managed plan which is blue cross blue shield.
its just that its impossible to get a standing wheelchair approved.
yea, I’m paralyzed from the waist down.
My medicaid social worker spoke to a medical supply store that said it would accept straight medicare for a wheelchair.
I asked him about a standing one and he didn’t understand what I meant but he assured me if its on the market he can get it for me.
the problem is medicare pays 80% and blue cross pays 100% for my durable medical supplies.
the dilemma:
Is it cheaper paying 20% and deductible with medicare or quarterly payments with blue cross of 172.00
my monthly bill for durable medical supplies is as follows:
10.90 for night drainage bags
35 condom catheters 42.35
extension tube 1.89
skin prep 7.50
leg bags at 15.76
medical supply company and social worker don’t know how much
its just that beside the 20% copay with medicare I also have a deductible for medical supplies that must be met before it I only have to pay 20%
i called up medicare and medicare can’t give me a estimate either

why does the government pay Med. Supply Companies for home care equip. over the oridinal cost of equip?

My brother is thinking of buying a medical supply business (wheelchairs, medical equipment, etc.) The vast majority of revenue comes through Medicare reimbursement. I’m concerned about the potential that much of their reported revenue is due to fraud. I don’t necessarily have a basis for this but just want to make sure. Anyone know where my brother can go to confirm that this audit happened. I don’t want to trust any documentation provided by the current owners.

Thanks.
