My husband is a graduate student and we have the student insurance. It cost about $2000 to add our daughter to our plan for a year (the same price for any amount of kids). It was actually a really good plan for being pregnant, though - we only had a copay of $200 for the whole hospital thing. Then it turns out that 6 of our well visits are free, but the pediatrician wants 8 visits a year. So each dr visit is a $20 copay for us. 2 extra visits plus 4 sick visits would be about $100. We haven't needed to use any medication for her yet (1st 6 months), and my nursing vitamens are about $10 a month I would guess. We also got misc baby medicine dispensers, tylenol, etc that I guess probalby cost about $30-$40 total. And I expect we will spend about that on teething pain medication at some point.
