God, I can't believe the mean-spiritedness shown in these answers. It makes me ashamed to be an American.

Thanks for asking the question. And you are right that after Katrina, the first aid supplies and medical personnel on the scene came from a Mexican Navy ship in the gulf--way before our great government could get it together to do anything at all.

Today in Tabasco, there are people who have been stranded on their roofs for up to a week. 75% of Tabasco is under water and more rain is expected. These people--our neighbors--need help.

Several banks have set up special accounts for donations. One is HBSC and I know they have branches in the US. Bank of America is affilated with Banco Santander Serfin--which also has a special aid acocunt. I would imagine you can make a donation there.

The easiest would be to contact the American Red Cross. They are already involved in gathering money and supplies for the people of Tabasco.

And I seriously hope I am never in a position to depend on any of the jerks who gave such heartless answers to this generous-minded question. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

considering we are at war with mexico I see no point in helping them
we can use this opportunity to send all their skilled hardworking laborers back to them and end the war at the same time

Andy - Can you believe these xenophobic losers who've replied to your post? I asked the same question in another forum but haven't gotten a good answer yet. I could hardly find real news coverage of the tragedy let alone an organized response to provide help. CNN, NY Times, London Times, none of them are featuring it as the main story. If I hear anything I'll pass it on

By sending all of the people here that do that jobs that we will not do, to do the jobs that need done in Mexico. We will struggle hard without them; but I feel that they should go and help out their compatriots first and foremost--them and their entire families--kids, aunts and all. This would be a tragic waste of an opportunity, if they where to not go back south to shoulder the burdens for their Hispanic brethren.

We could pitch in a few tomattoes, spinach, and maybe some lettuce and off they go to save Mexico!!! (food is the most important thing.) Maybe kick down some old jail blankets.(have to keep warm.) And upgrade their homes with tents. (selter is very important.)

Also we could send them all of the convicts that are Mexican that we are currently housing in the USA. (there is no labor like free convict labor.)

I think they need a lot of trained laborers from the rebuilding fields that they can only find up here.....we have plenty of buses that Mayor Nagin didnt use in Katrina that could be used for transport of these fine workers to their homelands for assisting their countrymen...
