Has anyone here made preparations for a possible melt down and depression in the States?

That’s a good appoach. Yet I have a better one. I have stocked up on weapons and ammo. That way, if a true meltdown occurs, your stuff becomes my stuff. Thanks for getting it ready for me.

All I have to say is watch out for the Idiots that pack up all their microwave meals and head for the mountains. Trust me they will be everywhere and will want your stuff.

I am a business owner and I started preparing about a year ago when it looked like OB would win. Stopped hiring, stopped buying anymore new equipment, moved all my retirment and investments accounts into a safe place. I plan on not making any profit or taxable income for the next 4 years. I am just trying to protect my business.

the only preparations I need are my guns religion and antipathy towards other who are not like me…ala Obama owns words.
One things for sure, I will drive out and around Detroit to get up north. That place is trash already

Yes. Make sure there isn’t a depression by creating a movement that will impeach President Obama if he continues to enact socialist policies mimicking the failed administrations of FDR or Jimmy Carter. The fastest, surest way out of the recession is very simple. Give $9527.60 (40 cents to mail the check) to every tax filer in America and create a tax code that states that you pay an inverted graduated or fixed income tax. (The more money you make the less you have to pay as a percentage of your income. E.g. If you make $20,000 you pay $1000. If you make $200,000 you pay $15,000 — not $70,000+ like you do now.) Obama knows it as does every economist on the planet–but to do so would relinquish power to the American people.
Second, use that same movement to push for a vote of No Confidence in Queen Nancy Pelosi or King Harry Reed if they continue to treat the American people as their loyal subjects(subjects/subjugation/slaves) by taxing them into submission “for the good of the state/for the economy/to get us out of the recession/because if we don’t 500 million jobs will be lost” or whatever excuse they try to use to scare us. Set up a series of “predictive dialers”(possible using the internet) to constantly call the Capitol switchboard and a hundred of your people to talk when they pick up, ready to talk to ANY representative, so that congress won’t have any lines open. That should send a clear message that “We can’t wait till the 2010 election….”
The fiscal hedge against a currency meltdown is gold. Food, clothing and shelter can be had in Mexico or Canada for a lot less. Just bring your gold with you and retire–I’d prefer the Baja peninsula or Cozumel. Why would you settle for living like a survivalist in a trailer park?

Its not the rednecks that you would have to worry about.
I read somewhere that some countries had stopped accepting American dollars and are demanding gold because they don’t trust the government to survive Obama
