Could I file any type of harrassment charge against security of my work for confiscating my medical supplies?
I have to carry around a plastic syringe and a catheter for medical reasons. For Irrigation of the bladder due to a mucus build up. If I were to get them taken away for any reason could I take it to court or anything?

Well first of all if they try to take away medical supplies that are REQUIRED for you to have then they are not aloud to take them away. Make sure they know u need this equipment and if they still try to then you can take it to higher up. I wouldnt go directly to court but if its needed, you gotta do what u gotta do Kevin W

Get a letter of medical necessity from your doctor and re-arrange this matter with your employer. That way you avoid any issues. You may need to attend to your medical problem off of your. employer’s property.
Be aware that employer has an absolute right to restrict who and what comes on their property. This is a health and safety issue for everyone working for the employer. Is your medical waste contaminated? Does it require special disposal? Is it infectious with HIV? Hepatitis? Or another communicable disease? Your employer is legally obliged to protect other employees from being harmed by anything dangerous being brought on their property.
You have no basis for any lawsuits, since nothing has happened to you. Cultural Insight

I suggest that you secure a letter from your doctor stating why you need to carry the medical supplies with you and give the copy, not the original, of the letter to your immediate supervisor who should take it to his/her boss. In this way they will have been given proper notice of the need for you to have to carry the medical supplies with you. Were they to confiscate the medical supplies after you gave them notice you had a doctor’s recommendation to carry them, you will have established due cause for a lawsuit for harassment and you would win. Were they to fire you for carrying the medical supplies, you could file a lawsuit for wrongful termination, and you would win. It is important for you to give them the letter from your doctor as this is the proof that you gave them proper notice. Make sure that the letter from the doctor is dated, as that is important in establishing a time line in the event of a lawsuit. I don’t think that you will have any problem with the security firm once you give them the doctor’s letter. Good luck to you. PETER M
