I can’t remember what the place is called. They’re in a few states and they collect medical supplies, take donations, etc, and the volunteers pack the medical supplies and they’re shipped to countries in Africa, or something.

littledeaftink asked: Hi, I am looking for donations for a very special group of children who live in vietnam. They live in a home for abadoned and disabled children. There are 16 children with 8 nuns caring for them. The children spend most of the day on the hard floor or in a crib and share a few outfits, one baby bottle and 2 wheelchairs that most of them cannot sit up in. I am looking to send them used clothing (any sizes will help), bottles, sippy cups, diapers, blankets, towels, washcloths, bibs, pillows, toys, and also any type of special equipment for disabled children….wheelchairs, seats, gait trainers, standers….anything will help these children. They also take donations at the website. If anyone can donate any type of supplies, I will take them! They also need medical supplies…thermometers, medications (otc), lotions, soaps, cremes, Please contact me at:

MariLovesAfrica asked:
I am Board member of a wonderful organization that does humanitarian work in Kenya- American Friends of Kenya.
We focus on listening to what Kenyans need to help themselves. Usually a lot of NFP want to tackle AIDS or Malaria or one disease when really the overall Public Health system needs to improve.
We send medical supplies and training materials for doctors and nurses. We do one trip a year where volunteer nurses and doctors train and work “hands on” at clinics and hospitals in rural Kenya.
We also ship thousands of books, fund uniforms and shoes for children to be able to get an education.
Some of our goals now are: creating programs for orphanages to empower these kids and give them love, confidence and courage, creating a library that would serve over 900,000 people, expanding our organization across the US, and more.
Our next volunteer trip is July 2008.
Interested in helping?
Please contact me or for more information go to www.afkinc.org.
Thanks!

Headless Horseman asked: When a natural disaster strikes, many people and countries respond to this global emergency, with food, medical supplies and human comfort items for the survivors, but why doesn’t Yahoo! Inc., a multibillion dollar Internet company respond with some type of assistance?
Are they afraid that there profit margins will decrease and they won’t have as much money to spend on themselves, or are they just too stingy to want to help other cultures that are less fortune then they are, especially during a worldwide crisis?
What do you think?
Tlna: How do you know they do?

Recently, I’ve had a slight excess of money, and I would love to find a charity to support. I’m interested in a charity which distributes medical supplies or personnel to countries in need of aid. But if you have any charities to suggest instead, I would love to hear.

I am a female in my first year of undergrad. I plan to go into medical school to be a doctor. I want to volunteer in the summer for two months in another country. I want to volunteer doing something that would be most closely related to medicine. Like something like help distribute medical supplies or something. I was wanting to go to Africa, but my parents are worried about all the war struck areas and various other things.

I need to get supplies to Peru. Equipment to enable local people to start their own business. Things like computers, leather working tools, sewing machines, and of course clothing. We are part of an organization called Friends of Peru. www.friendsofperu.com
I heard there was an organization called Mano-Mano or something out of Minnesota that ships things down to South America in containers through the National Guard. I searched online phone directories as well as Yahoo and Google searches with no luck.
